Lodging a Claim
In most cases you will need to lodge a grievance with your employer before you can go ahead and lodge a claim at the Employment Tribunal. You must wait 28 days from lodging your grievance before you lodge a claim with the Tribunal.You will need to fill in an ET1 form which is called the ‘Employment Tribunal Application Form’ and then send it to the Employment Tribunal nearest to your employer.Leigh Day & Co can assist you with this.The Employment TribunalTribunals are public so you can go and view another one if you would like to prepare yourself before your own tribunal.Usually, the tribunal panel is led by the Chairperson, who is a lawyer, accompanied by a representative of an employee organisation as well as a representative of an employer organisation. Cases are generally conducted in a less formal manner than in an ordinary court case.
